I can't resist this. I like listy things when I have time, and I've probably been thinking about this too much.

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked,
filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post
should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be
anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("my own Snape/Hermione
icon") to medium ("_____ on DVD") to really big ("a new
car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
-
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you
include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your
address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves)
could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version
of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public)
so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

-
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random
journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the
important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a
leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or
even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for
free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want
to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a
chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can
be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules
with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish,
and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have
the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

All I Want For Christmas

For the record, secondhand and homemade are wonderful. I wouldn't want anyone spending any money on me.

1. Puzzles
Bespoke especially, but anything I haven't seen before would be fantastic. I've been constructing a lot of puzzles recently and it has resparked my love of anything that keeps my mind sharp. Physical, mental, text, pictoral, anything would be wonderful. And would keep me sane through Christmas with the family.

2. Games
During the summer I took up Alquerque, which is a beautifully simple game, akin to draughts. It has given me a love of simple games. Games with three rules that can be played with a dozen counters and a square of cardboard. I would love new games to play, antique, obscure, or newly thought up. They needn't be physical things either. Of course, I would also need people to play with...

3. Decks of Cards
Of various brands and styles, sizes and shapes. Preferably boxed, but not necesarily complete.
4. Model Animals
Tasteful models of animals, wood or metal of any size. I'm especially looking for a moose.
5. Interesting Stones
Aesthetically pleasing lumps of rock, semi-precious and non-precious.

These last three are things I'm collecting for a photography project. Don't spend any money, but if you happen to have any of these things lying around and they need homes, send them my way.

6. A Subscription to McSweeney's Quarterly Concern
From here. I can wish. I'd like an iPod as well, while we're at it.

7. Your Favourites
I love recieving books and music selected for me not because I would like them but because they are the senders favourites. Even just the name of your favourite song.

8. A New Experience
I'm a little down at the moment and a lot of it is due to me feeling useless and wasted. There are so many things I haven't done for no better reason than fear and laziness. I have never ridden a horse, or taken, well, drugs, or played strip poker, or been ice skating. I don't expect anyone to take me up on this, but if ever anyone wants to treat me, take me out and make me do something new.

9. Time and Space
Not anything that can be given, but something I want. I always have too much to do. I would love to have a week or three so that I could get on top of it all.

10. To Like Myself
No one can make me like myself, but if anyone has a good suggestion, answers on a postcard.

I've finally done my Christmas Card design for the year, and I'll be sending them on Tuesday (very late I know). I may also do a sounds of the year compilation. If anyone would like one or other in a physical form, please put your address in a comment, screened for your privacy.

With many thanks to libellum.

Here is a description of a brillient game All you need is some numbered cards and some counters. But you should buy it anyway, because it's a great game and the manufacturers need all the support they can get :-)

I would love any excuse to go iceskating.

Where can I obtain it, or should I make a copy for myself? Sounds interesting, but possibly too much thinking for my tiny little mind. Willing to have a crack though.
