I have a particular hatred of people treating CDs badly, but not really books. Fair enough if they tear the pages out I will be a bit miffed, but I'm not going to argue when books are thrown about or left on the floor or creased and I think I've finally realised why. The problems with CDs is that they are only there to hold information. If you mistreat them, they will fail and then they will be worthless. For all the packaging, two scratched CDs are the same. Books, however, are artifacts themselves, somehow managing to become even more than the words inside them. You can still read a dented book perfectly well, and if anything will make it's reading a more comfortable thing. This is all really confused. Isn't it? I think I need sleep.
