I know not many of the people who read this are technogeeks, and it is a bit of a cheeky request, but I am currently trying to build a computer for free. From bits scrounged off housemates we have motherboards, CPUs, PSUs, fans, drives. But anything that is going free would be muchly appreciated.

It is the thought that it wouldn't cost much to buy the remaining bits, but it's the principal now. I've set myself a task.

I have an ancient cd-drive and my recently redundant old case, but I think I'm going to keep them - as I've been having similar ideas to you. Besides I think playing around with lots of old components would teach me a lot.

Probably a network card, maybe a video card, both fairly ancient, come and have a rummage in my box (oo-err) if you fancy.
