I had a lovely day yesterday. Went to the drill hall to see the Marriage of Figaro with Susannah Clyta and Tom. It was excellent. Mozart's music scored for an eight piece band with new English libretto updating it to the tory leadership battle complete with sleaze. One of the finest things I've seen. Beautifully performed with a true ensemble cast (including Ros Shelley). Inventively staged. And I didn't half fancy Cherubino.

In the bar afterwards we met Ros and her man Alan who just happens to be the new chair of mountview. Seems a very nice chap and was in good spirits. We left when the bar started turning into the last night party.

Went for a drink with Susannah and talked about things I shouldn't have done. I feel so young. I know I ought to be writing a dozen letters a day. I know I need to be desperately chasing any job that's on offer. Susannah said I've just got to settle into the new rhythm. I said I'm trying not to because the natural new rhythm is comatose.

All will be well. All will be well and all manner of things will be well.
