So much for a bright and productive Monday. A long night in front of a screen basically dicking around sees me yawning my face off at work.

Friday night saw me at the V&A. The event wasn't particularly good, but the building always is. The 3D zoetrope by Mat Collishaw was particularly thrilling, but now I realise it has finished. Boo.

Saturday we braved the march and the riots to see the new production of the Umbrellas of Cherbourg at the Gielgud. It's beautifully staged but the libretto's horrible and the music is repetitive. The two ladies I saw it with both cried and thoroughly enjoyed it, and they had both seen the film before which I haven't. To enjoy this show I then stipulate that you should either (a) be female, (b) watch the film first, or ideally (c) both.

We tried to avoid the march, the protests and the riots, so found somewhere to drink wine until we got cold and headed home. Strange waiting outside a theatre and watching riot vans pass.

Sunday led to the Royal Festival Hall and a screening of the Phantom of the Opera. But that will have to wait, as will Sussurus and Circuit. This can come now.
