Back to work this morning, having got about 7 hours sleep since Friday. Spent most of my time at work trying to type up the missing posts from the weekend and not to fall asleep. Lots of third years pootling around because they've moved all their rehearsals to the evening so they don't clash with auditions. Home. Leftovers. Mario. Jurrassic Park. In needing to find cables in a hurry, making a mess of my room. Must sleep soon.

Album of the day was Explosions In The Sky's The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place. Post Rock. Very good, but emotionally lacking something. I've heard enough post rock and seen enough live to equate what I'm feeling to album/set construction. The overriding emotion of this album seems to be striving, working, driving. Always sad, never quite able to shake off the nagging doubts of life. And I personally need the moment of glory. I need the release. If you want to know what I mean, listen to Monroe Transfer's Electric Old Wire Noise (available from Boomkat records). Hallelujah makes that album for me. I leave it satisfied. It is the haggis, if you will. but I need that. I love listening to the marathon runner, but I want to hear him breaking the tape. It is exciting to hear rowing lovers, but what thrills me is the moment they kiss and hold each other like they've never done before.

This week I'm starting on a backlog of recommended listening. I'd appreciate as many tuppence-worths as are out there, so:

Poll #1148593 I'm taking requests

Recommend me one great album
