Overslept. Dragged myself into work. Discovered on opening my mail that one of the shows I was in Berlin with has won an award. Did the wiggly bottom dance. Had a really nice lunch in the canteen. On my wanderings at lunchtime discovered a half price shoe sale and purchased a nie pair of brown leather trainery things. Found students who wanted to listen to my opinion rather than ridicule it. Checked mail later to find, if I read it correctly, that both of the shows I was in Berlin with had won awards. Came home to find moocards waiting for me. The food I was going to eat by myself happily fed three of us. Had time to do something useful and play a bit of mario. Basically, a pretty shit hot day all told.
The overwhelmingness of it all is that I have lots of stuff to get done, but it's all good things. I just need time. Meanwhile my inbox is starting to resemble a fridge in a student house. Things that I know are delicious food are starting to resemble furry monsters. I'll get there in the end.
The album of the day was Bluegrass Music From the Appalachian Mountains by Eric Darling. This rocks. First half is all instrumental and very pacey. Lots of good banjo in there. The second half is all vocal and my god are there some odd songs. Lots of cheerful melodies with lyrics about killing people. Near the end there's a brilliant song about looking after the baby that has the lyrics Every time the baby cries/Poke the baby in the eyes/Every time the baby grins/Give the baby a bottle of gin. WTF?
