That, ladies and gentlemen, was a busy, but very pleasant, day.
Decided I had too much to do and took the whole day off work. Talked my mum through scanning photos. theatre503 for the fastest rig/focus/plot of my life (which included a soundcheck) for the comedy gig tonight. Bus to South Kensington for the V&A where I watched the entirety of Shockheaded Peter*. Then tea with Lily. Tube to town for some vital, vital shopping**. Tube to Kennington to the White Bear Theatre for Henna Night***, where I ended up helping with lights and then taking photographs before I was allowed to watch the show. Then home. Then failure to do the things I needed to do before bed. Jah bollocks, as they say.
Album of the day was Lars Frederiksen & The Bastards eponymous album. Finally, something that sounded like I expected it to. Too much distortion and choruses you can really shout along to. The fact that I can recall quite a lot of it implies something more than mindless punk. For one thing, the vocals are mixed really bright and really loud, which I like. There was even a plague song.
* Weekday screenings of classic performances are being trialed at the V&A. See here
for more details.
** OK. A theremin. And I know you're going to say "but you don't play the autoharp you have". Sod it.
*** Lovely little one act about the ex meeting the current girlfriend in somewhat odd circumstances. Shame it's only doing two performances.
