Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Welcome to the Third Annual Weaselspoon Lenten Puzzle.

For each of the next seven and forty days, I will be posting a photograph in a post on this very livejournal bearing the tag LentPuzzle2008. Somewhere in these seven and forty posts will be hidden patterns and messages and anomalies to delight and to confound, in amongst some photography, spiffy, dull or bizarre as it may be.

I would like to invite anyone reading this to solve my puzzle. The answer is classically simple when you find it and there will be a prize if you do. Please direct your solutions to soultion at protrait dot net. Enquiries, begging for hints and bribes should be pointed at help at protrait dot net or left as messages on this entry. A mirror of the puzzle will be posted to www dot protrait dot net as soon as I have time.

The First and Second puzzles are still online, although their solutions are not and anyone wishing to attempt these has my blessing to try. You would still be joining a somewhat exclusive club.

The first puzzle was solved at the time by Longbird and much more recently by a Mr Stewart. At the time of writing, the only correct solution I have recieved to the second puzzle was from Longbird on April 25th 2007AD, a little after lunch.

In a recent interview I asked Longbird whether she felt under pressure to defend her crown:
"Well obviously I am delighted to be the top Lent Puzzler, but it's the taking part that counts. I really enjoyed the last two and am looking forward to getting properly stuck in to this year's... The 2007 trophy is a beautiful sight to behold! It lives on my hearth and i look at it a lot. AND I'M GOING TO WIN AGAIN YES I'LL BEAT YOU ALL - A HA HA HA HAAA!"
I asked her if she'd like to add anything to that:
"Yes thank you, if you don't mind: !!!?!?!!!
That should do it."
