Many moons ago, about fourteen I believe, one of my closest friends married one of the sweetest men in the world. For a wedding present I wanted to make them some art for the wall of their new house and asked them if I could bagsy a wall, and what size should I make it. They suggested a 3'x3' canvas.

Unfortunately I then went on tour and didn't have time to paint, or print or do any of those lovely things, so I hijacked a photoshoot with my housemate and got a photograph, which contained myself and a fiendish puzzle, and mounted it on a wooden frame, edged in red velvet. By coincidence of some degree of planning, the piece ended up at exactly 1' square. And so came with a note stating that the next 8 were on their way.

The second followed a few months later, four small canvases of the card suits painted on black backgrounds, and the third earlier this year, four small canvases of L, O, V and E typeset in Albertus, and the fourth quite recently, Love Means, a three part screenprint on linen (see the userpic).

I was going to slowly trickle them over the next couple of years, but I believe I've almost finished the set thanks to NaArMaMo. There is now this and this and this will soon be finished, and the frame you can just see in the corner makes eight, with a small carving to finish off the set.

Go me.

Thank-you. It's what happens when I have pretty bits of wood left over. Everything in that picture is a sliver that was left over from cutting the wood for the first frame.
