Well, last night was opening night of Florodora. Full house, less three latecomers who didn't get in. Many press. Many more mistakes. Particularly nice reception from the MD after the show. Got drunk. Got maudlin. Left.

I'm now working back at the library. Still drunk. Still maudlin, if I'm being honest. Still a half dozen voicemail messages to listen to. Bollocks.

A man named Maximilian Global gripped my hand on the southbound Victoria line platform a night or three ago and told me I would be a great actor. He then told me he would be second in command of the world behind his Israeli friend and would marry Winona Ryder.

Hello darling,

am back in Aber and very sorry to miss you. Haven't spoken to you in ages, so ring me when you're free. Do you still have my number?

Does it still end 222?

I shall just have to come to Aber and find you, exotic jetsetter that you are.

Sorry last night was fraught but it sounds like it had some good moments. Or at least a good bar.

I am, sadly, stone cold sober but join you in the maudlin (although I'm not sure that's quite the right word for my state of mind). Very much looking forward to seeing you later, as is S who I have just spoken to.

BTW just because Maximillian was deluded about his own future doesn't mean he was wrong about yours. In all madness lies an element of truth.

The show went very well, in the end. Plenty of laughs. I'll write it up properly at some point.

I was worried that the tube strike was going to stop me coming, but it seems to have been a damp squib.

I gather that there might be problems with the Northern line and getting to London Bridge that way but you could always get Piccadilly to Leicester Square and walk down to Charing Cross to pick up a train.

But I'm sure you already knew that...

I love that the Northern Line is delayed due to unconnected industrial action.

TFL says I should be fine.
