Hopper at the Tate was disappointing. This may well be something to do with having seen the Vettriano a couple of weeks back, which was also disappointing. Possibly the best things in the hopper were the self portraits and the journal, that was reprinted in its entirety in a book outside which was unfortunately not for sale. The wonder round the Tate threw up new treasures, as ever.

Summer Exhibition at the RA was a lot like the Affordable Art Fair. In fact, a lot of the same artists. And, like the AAF, the large, overpriced oils were boring, the engravings were enticing and the things that shouldn't be are fantastic. The strongest memory I will take from that exhibition is how good a cartoonist Roger Penrose is.

I should know all my lines. Well, all the lines.

I don't.

Sue me.
