Tuesday night was #acms (the Alternative Comedy Memorial Society). It is an excellent and joyous thing. I kept seeing opportunities to use the approved heckles, but not wanting to interrupt. This is a good sign. Two new heckles were added, by popular approval: (5) Good, but it is a very full bill & (6) That's a Tim Vine joke (used to great effect after a murderous ranting). My most proud moment was getting a letter on the bomb board.

You know how you can drop the F-bomb and the C-bomb? And obviously there's an A-bomb and a H-Bomb. Thom Tuck is attempting to fill in the other letters. B is for Bomb, D is for Dirty and now E is for Existential. And Tom Bell dropped the melonfarming E-Bomb while pretending to be J Luke Roberts pretending to be Tom Bell as a sexist Australian.

Last night consisted of wine, followed by poor sleep.

I have read Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, which is a surreal retelling of that old greek tale from her point of view. Moving, but a bit wafty and odd for the sake of odd. Wish I'd seen it as it reads like it would have looked gorgeous.

I have also read In The Next Room by Sarah Ruhl. A doctor on the forefront of modern technology (in 1880) uses vibrators to cure women and men of their hysteria. All the patients leave, in varying degrees of happiness, but the doctor's wife is slowly collapsing. Moving, emotionally and narratively. A bugger to stage. I like it many.

Yesterday I listened to Orlando by AGF & Craig Amrstrong. Field recordings and tape effects with breathy poetry and classical instruments. It neither thrilled nor irritated.

Bordeaux by Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd just disappeared into the background.

On Saturday, Grace did introduce us to “fugu-gurgling”, a new swear based around the F-word for a puffer-fish, as it refers to their cooked meat.

Shame that bomb is already taken.
