A conversation with a friend just drifted to the idea of which composer/band would you have score your life. He suggested Saint-Saëns for himself, and Nyman for a mutual friend.

And I realised I'm probably Randy Newman.

Not even Sondheim.

Oh dear. Randy Newman film score rather than Randy Newman proper, even?

I'd like to think Randy Newman proper. In the days at least. Probably Randy Newman does a film type score while I'm sleeping.

(I once dreamt an entire Randy Newman type song in my dreams, retaining only the line "It's also the language of the coat and the toaster")

Probably the Cure.

Despite not being a teenager for a long time, and not having painted my fingernails black in many years I think Robert Smith still lives in my head somewhere!
